Initially launching Opanova Digital in 2018, my web development journey began while juggling studying Journalism at the Ohio State University and serving tables when I discovered my niche in helping small businesses establish and enhance their online presence. This venture felt like a natural fusion of my familial influences—my mother’s entrepreneurial spirit and my father’s tech savvy.
The birth of my son in 2023 marked a pivotal moment for the business, leading to a significant shift. To better serve an evolving market, Opanova Digital transitioned to focus solely on domains and hosting, clearing the path for Sakura Web + SEO to emerge as a dedicated digital agency. Today, Sakura provides modern digital marketing solutions with a feminine touch, blending innovative design and strategic digital outreach.

Market Need Discovery
I discovered a gap in the market for specialized website services and created “Opanova,” a name that combines ‘Opa,’ a Greek expression for celebrating life, and ‘Nova,’ a star that suddenly increases its light output, to symbolize the bright future I envisioned for my clients.
Website Launch
I began my journey by crafting my own website, laying the foundation for future growth through various projects. Growing up, I built computers with my dad, which nurtured my early fascination with technology and equipped me with the skills to navigate the digital world from a young age.
Focus on Beauty Industry
My love for beauty inspired me to explore how I could blend my personal interests with my professional skills, targeting a niche market.
Balancing Act
I managed a full course load at school and waitressing, all while working late on client projects to keep my dream alive. I was able to gain valuable industry insights through an internship at a CPC ad agency, which enriched my understanding of digital marketing. By the end of 2019, I quit the restaurant to dedicate myself entirely to nurturing my business.
Pandemic Pivot
As the world grappled with a pandemic, I decided it was time to dive all in on my business. The popularity of Zoom and online communications became crucial tools that helped me expand my business.
Graduation and Risk-Taking
After graduating from Ohio State in May 2020, I chose to forgo the traditional job market and fully embrace the risks and rewards of entrepreneurship.

I reached a milestone by acquiring office space and establishing a tangible presence for Opanova. This year was also about expanding our team and ensuring everyone was well-trained to deliver exceptional service.
Software Development Exploration
I dove deep into API and software integration, significantly enhancing our service capabilities.
Personal and Professional Growth
The birth of my son, Carter, marked a profound chapter in my life, inspiring me to rethink and refine my business strategy. This led to the initial concept of Sakura, a more innovative and focused iteration of Opanova.
