I’m Aja—boy mom, wife, multi-business founder, and the heart behind Sakura. With a background in journalism and a lifelong love for small business, I specialize in helping service-based brands grow online through thoughtful design and strategic digital marketing.
What started in a library desk at Thompson Library at Ohio State has grown into a full-service agency partnering with salons, spas, and local businesses across the country. I believe in blending creativity with clarity, bringing a personal touch to every project, and building digital experiences that truly reflect the people behind the brand.

Family, Storytelling & Strategy
I’ve always been drawn to words, design, and communication. During my time at The Ohio State University studying Journalism and Political Science, I discovered web design as a powerful way to blend storytelling with strategy. I built my first client websites from the Thompson Library.
Raised by two entrepreneurial spirits, business has always been in my blood. My mom ran a children’s consignment shop for nearly 30 years, and my dad was a computer tech who built and connected systems from the ground up. That foundation, paired with my love of writing and digital design, shaped the early days of my career.
The passing of my grandmother in 2011 sparked a deep connection to my family’s legacy in Columbus—when I learned she was the head waitress at the iconic Kahiki Supper Club. That piece of history—full of heart, hospitality, and community still inspires my work and the way I approach client partnerships today.
A Business Built with Heart
(and Hustle)
In 2018, I launched Opanova Digital as a solo freelancer building websites between college classes and waitressing shifts. What started as a side hustle quickly became something more.
With a lifelong love for beauty, brands, and creative spaces like salons and spas, I found myself naturally drawn to service-based businesses. Over the years, Opanova evolved into Sakura Web + SEO, a boutique web agency helping local brands grow with smart strategy and personalized care.
In 2023, I stepped into motherhood, and it reshaped everything. Becoming a parent brought deeper clarity to how I build, lead, and support others—professionally and personally.
Today, with a small but mighty team and a mission rooted in intention, I also run Etchline, our NFC and engraving brand that brings together tech and creativity in new ways.
